DATE OPEN HIGH LOW CLOSE CANDLE
18/04/2012 46.23 47.73 46.23 47.49 Green
19/04/2012 47.12 47.75 47.12 47.44 Red
20/04/2012 45.98 47.23 45.53 46.75 Red

Are the candle colours correct?
The line graph shows UP, DOWN and DOWN.
I have verified the above prices.
That was for WL4.

The Candles and line graphs on WL6 are all green as expected.
Enlightenment would be welcome, please.

All the three bars should be green, as your primary resource says:

Wealth-Lab User Guide > Preferences > Chart Colors and Styles

Up Bars

The default color for price bars whose Close is greater than the Open.

Down Bars

The default color for price bars whose Close is less than or equal to the Open.

Thanks. Actual problem was that the ATP style was selected...the rest was correct.

Date............O......H.....L.....C......Diff...%change
16/07/2012 0.37 0.39 0.35 0.38
17/07/2012 0.39 0.40 0.38 0.40 -0.02 -5.00%
18/07/2012 0.39 0.40 0.38 0.40

Three bars and middle one should be a positive change...it's an Up Bar.
Just price data...no code...same with any code.
WL6 is same as WL4... same data source.
Appears now and then on different bars and on many symbols.
Candles and line graphs...same result.

Any assistance will be very welcome.

I need something more than this table created by you i.e. be able to see and reproduce it in Wealth-Lab 6: data provider, symbol(s) at the very least.

Tried to send you a screen shot of actual graph but can't paste it in the post.

This is data from another source...same problem, so it is not the data causing the problem.

Yahoo/Nasdaq/AAPL/31 Oct 2011/ 402.42/409.33/401.05/404.78 = - 0.04%
Yahoo/Dow/AA/6 Jan 2012/9.08/9.25/9.08/9.16 = - 2.14%

I'm not using above data...just cheking some old data on WL6.

Can you restate the problem here? You've mixed WL4 (unsupported), line, and candle styles with data from different sources in your posts that I just cannot follow what the problem is.

It's a very simple comparison for the OHLC or Candle chart styles to check the difference between the Open and Close and assign the correct color. The comparison really cannot fail except potentially in the most precise case of "near equality".

Incidentally, there's a Close-to-Close coloring option for the OHLC Thick Bar style in the Community ChartStyles extension.

One bar is not enough when talking about percentage differences.

Yahoo*/AA/6 Jan 2012 8.992 9.16 8.992 9.071 previous close 9.269 - consequently, change -2.14% but bar is green because Close > Open

Yahoo*/AAPL/31 Oct 2011 402.42 409.33 401.05 404.78 previous close 404.95 - hence the change of -0.04% but bar is green because Close > Open

* Dividend/split adj. enabled

To post an image, press Alt and Prt Scrn, then visit Snag.gy and simply paste it like the page instructs you to. Next, obtain the direct link by appending "i." to the URL as follows: "http://snag.gy/image.jpg" becomes "http://i.snag.gy/image.jpg" (without quotes). Finally, paste the direct link to the full-size image between a pair of IMG tags (you should see a pane with "...LINK, QUOTE, CODE, IMG" buttons when adding a new post).

Hi, I did not see your last post so I'm sending mine in any case.
So it seems as if I did not know how to interpret the changes between bars...that comes from trading funds for years with just an EOD price. Thanks for the LESSON. I saw that the trading results were not affected.

Hi Cone, welcome on board.

Ignore the above and start here.

This is an Up Bar but it shows a negative result between open and close if you hover the cursor on the bar.

This appears on different data sources and on different symbols but not on all Up Bars of a symbol.

I have just discovered the following relationship re AA above and other symbols:
The close on the day before on AA was 9.36 and the close on the following day is 9.19, this calculates to a minus 2.14% drop (from one bar to the next bar)

This happens on WL4 as well.

So it's not the data source or WL6 or one symbol or strategy. So what can it be?

Glad to help. To sum things up, should someone else stumble on our discussion:

* Percentage change is measured from the previous bar (that is, it takes two bars)
* The color of the bar for built-in Chart Styles is measured using the current bar's open to close relationship.
* A Close-to-Close coloring option exists in the OHLC Thick Bar style in the Community ChartStyles extension.

Yep. but note I did not mention color in any of the post since yesterday. Learn and live.
From my earlier post above the following caught me as well.

So please add to your summary, the APT color setting problem which affect the colors as well.

Thank you very much.
