Bought new HP laptop. Downloaded WL, can't open file. Get message saying "WL Pro has stopped working and needs to close". Removed and installed WL Pro, removed Data Folder, created new windows user, and re-installed WL Pro to no avail. Any suggests to get working.

First thing I'd do is start WLP by right-clicking on the shortcut and selecting "Run as admin".

Did that before and again just now. Nothing happens. Error message "WLP has stopped working".

1. Did you download WLP from fidelity.com?

2. If you had an older version of WLP installed, run the uninstall first, delete any files remaining in the C:\Program Files\Fidelity Investments\Wealth-Lab Pro 5 installation directory, and then install the latest 5.6 version.

3. Is .NET 2.0 installed (this should be a pre-requisite for the installation)

I uninstalled.
Then, I downloaded WLP from atp.fidelity.com
NET 2.0? What is this?

WL 5.6 probably won't install if .NET 2.0 isn't installed (this was a problem in older releases).

If you didn't succeed, please enter a support ticket for me to suggest something privately (something I'll definitely never suggest here.)

How do I know if .NET 2.0 is on my laptop.. Just bought the HP laptop in February.

Is the OS Vista or Windows 7? .NET 2.0 is a part of them.

It's OK with .NET 2.0 then.

The windows is Vista and i know .NET 2.0 is already available in Vista. I had .NET 3.5 SP1 in my system too when the system was still working at the time. And after failure to work, I uninstall the .NET 3.5 SP1 and also the WL Pro 6.0 and reinstall again only the WL Pro, but still not work.

Does anyone know how to solve it?

Yes we know. But let's clarify first: have you changed regional settings in Windows? Any bit, including the language or decimal separator?

No, I haven't changed neither regional settings, language nor decimal separator.

This is my setting for your information:

Current format: English (United States)
Location: United States
Numbers: Decimal symbol .
Separator: ,
Currency Symbol: $
Date format: yyyy-MM-dd

OK, then try the following [LINK=http://www2.wealth-lab.com/WL5WIKI/kbErrorsGeneral.ashx]
General troubleshooting procedure[/LINK] when Wealth-Lab crashes on start, starting from step 4.
