Hey guys, Im still on 6.9.24 running a basic strategy for several trading accounts with manual execution of trades since Fidelity dropped it. I realize it is way past time to upgrade to either WL7 or WL8. Do you have a migration path you would recommend? Also do you have any guidance you can refer me to on how to do the process of upgrading and migration of Workspaces, Strategies and Data?
Thanks,
Steve C.

Hi Steve,

7 is not a practical choice. To migrate strategies, workspaces and data to 8 you'd have to re-create them from scratch. As states the FAQ on recognizing WL6 strategies, download and install the Version 6.9 QuickRef with Version 7 Equivalents from the WL6 Wiki: https://www2.wealth-lab.com/wl5wiki/QuickRef7.ashx

If you need to get it done quickly, the Concierge service is available :

Yes, I just completed a rather extension Concierge job and I think Cone has too, or are you still working on that monster?

Thanks Eugene. On the Quickref7.ashx page you sent me it did not see where the Quickref.xml file was attached. Do I need to login to the wiki page to get it?

Right, you need to log in to see the Attachments link at the top right of the page.

Here's a pretty good visual explanation of some of the typical translations required for strategies -

Please disregard the login to Wiki and simply download/install the final 6.9.24 build from the legacy product's homepage at: https://wl6.wealth-lab.com

It comes with the updated QuickRef.

Thanks Guys,
I'll let you know how it goes.
So I should just go ahead and purchase the subscription to WL 8,;
Then copy and modify my strategies under WL8 compiler; Correct ?

Coming from WL6, converting the code to WL8 might not even be needed: in WL8 the building blocks are quite powerful (especially when combined with the Transformer indicators); and you might be able to re-create your trading ideas, implemented in WL6, using those in a new building blocks strategy.

Not only it is relatively simple and fast to implement; but, for me personally, the biggest advantage is how quick it is to after prototype new ideas on top of that base strategy.

Definitely :) And, the Premium subscription gives you access to all the Extensions.
