I have an quite interesting bug:

My WL resets every few starts of the program to default settings and all my yahoo data is gone, or the update of data removes some boars from Data sets, so its 3 errors that always occure at once:

1) broken Data: this is excatly the issue described already in "Open issues" on several symbols there is all data lost except for some bars. Solution as described in Opn issues works. BUT: I can offer additional insight on this one: before I found the solution to delete the daily folder, I was really every day going through all symbols from SP100 and SP500 and it was ALWAYS only NASDAQ symbols where data was lost, I never had issues with NYSE symbols

2) all Yahoo lists gone: Eugene already answered me on this one: deleting the config files in "yahoo static folder" helps

3) for this one I would need help: all settings are lost, meaning from "preference" pe: sounds on/of, individual commissions settings, date and time periods, bad tick filter on, but also in data manager the checkbox on "each time collect all data"

pls. also a solution to this one, but I also think this 3 might be connected since they always occur together.

My configuration: latest WL 6.5 on a Win8 running on Paralells on a Mac.

best regards

I think it's not a Wealth-Lab bug. Everything except #1 has to do with the fact you're running inside a virtual machine (which is an unsupported configuration by itself.) There something about your setup that occasionally prevents the files from being saved correctly. Hence the temporary "loss". Among things you can concentrate on are:

1) some misconfiguration (play with the VM settings)
2) you're using several accounts, or you may start WLD as Admin and then as a regular user (keep in mind that for every user of the computer the settings/data/etc. are unique and NOT shared)
3) abrupt shutdown of the VM. (don't do it)
4) restoring VM to snapshot
5) in some corporate environments, computers are sometimes configured in a way that prevents saving changes to the user's AppData folder - exactly like some sandbox application do (weird!). Double check that your VM isn't doing this for you!

It's clear to me that your specific configuration prevents Wealth-Lab from saving its configuration files (such as WealthLabConfig.txt, Yahoo provider's XML files etc) normally. Please don't ask me "how do I fix this". VMs are unsupported and I'm not their frequent user. I just can throw some ideas.

Re: #1, affected symbols are individual for everyone who's affected by the Yahoo provider's bug. There's a number of open tickets and we're working with the customers, trying to reproduce the intermittent error with limited success. We'll keep trying but it's absolutely clear that this bug has nothing to do with "WL resetting itself".
