I noticed that when I looked at the monthly chart for the DOW (.DJI), the data only goes as far back as 12/31/1991. Same is true for other indices and stocks. Is there a way I can get data to go further back in history?

The ticker suggests Fidelity as the data provider.
There is a workaround: from the two dozen data providers available for installation (Extensions section), pick one (or more) with historical data more than that. It's a trial and error process. Among the candidates with longer history are MSN (1928), QuoteMedia (1960), and Yahoo! (1990).
