Hi,

I like to switch between main window and help window using Alt+Tab. But currently, Help window is just staying on top of the main window.

Is there a way to move the Help Window behind the main Welthlab window?

Thanks in advance.

What operating system and Wealth-Lab version/edition (32/64-bit) do you have?

I am using Windows 7 32 bit and WealthLab Pro 6.0.55.0. "Wealth-Lab User Guide" works OK i.e. I can put it behind WLP main window by pressing Alt+Tab. But "Wealth-Lab WealthScript Programming Guide" always remains in front of WLP main window.

Well, when I opened my trading directory after few months of inactivity, the README file showed WealthLab username = LionKing and password = xxx. So when LionKing didn't work, LionKing1 was obvious choice. I think last time I touched my trading directory was in Oct'10, I don't remember the exact circumstances of that time, but I guess I like to change/upgrade everything every few months/years and that time I might be feeling like a Lion King :) Anyway, thanks for sending email reminding me of my old username, I guess I am not allowed to do a fresh start here. Sorry for using a proxy to download WLD (was it successful?) last time. Being a techie, I am always curious about systems, and I might have been testing if your system can handle proxy. Or I might have been curious about the differences between WLP and WLD. I actually don't remember. Sorry for the inconveniences.

I just thought 2011 is a great year to start fresh, so just getting back to trading after few years of inactivity. I have been playing with WLP for last 1 day, and so far seems to be great!

I am curious, is it ok to ask question on WLP here or is there any other forum by Fidelity to discuss WLP?

Re: help file

I thought you were talking about the help file (User Guide), that's why the question about operating system (couldn't reproduce). Yes, the Programming Guide is made sticky.

Re: discussing WLP here

Certainly it's the place to discuss WLP as well as WLD.

Thanks Eugene!

After a suggestion from a friend of mine, I found a workaround of this. Launch the Programming Guide by typing "C:\Program Files\Fidelity Investments\Wealth-Lab Pro 6\WealthScriptGuide.chm" (without double quotes) in the location bar of Windows Explorer. Now the newly launched Programming Guide window is not sticky. Now I can use Alt+Tab to switch between this window and the main WLP window.

Thanks!

I was reluctant to even suggest this because of the extra step involved (not too elegant).

In addition to typing, you can do it by manually opening the CHM file from Explorer (or another file manager) or by creating a shortcut to click on it later. By the way, it's just one out of four possible paths considering WL6 has 4 editions: WLD x86/x64 and WLP x86/x64. Each one installs itself into a unique folder. And if we consider that international (e.g. German) Windows may have different paths (i.e. X:\Programme), the number of potential combinations grows even larger. ;)

Thanks. I'll take a quick look to see what's required to fix this.

With five pop-up windows, that one can move outside of the WL main window,
User Guide, WealthScript Programming Guide, WealthScript QuickRef, Indicators, and Fundamental Indicators, it would be nice if they all behaved the same way. I use the external shortcut to the help files as much as I can, but how do I launch QuickRef and the two indicator panes from a separate shortcut?

There is no way to do it. QuickRef, Indicator/Fundamental lists are child windows of WLP while the help file is a part of Windows help subsystem.

Debug window is perfect - you can set it "Topmost" when required (which is nice and is useful sometime) and it shows up in the taskbar (so you can click on this to bring it in the front), and you can use Alt+Tab to bring it in the front.

QuickRef, Indicator/Fundamental windows have "Topmost" option, but they don't show up in the taskbar or in the Alt+Tab list. Ctrl+Tab or Alt+F6 also do not work for them. I like it when I can switch between Windows/Editors using Alt+Tab or Ctrl+Tab.

The "Keyboard Shortcuts" section of User guide states:

Alt + F6
Switch windows for the current application. For example, switch between open main Wealth-Lab Workspace windows or to QuickRef, Indicators, etc.

It does not work for me. Does it work for any of you?

QuickRef, Indicators and Fundamentals are not MDI children windows of the current applications (like charts, strategies), so Alt-F6 shouldn't apply to them.
