It looks like you haven’t pressed the Update DataSet button.

When you just click on a DataSet it shows you the current state. Press the Update button to update the data.

I've seen similar things before. I have the impression there is a timeout. If the data update takes too long it is aborted. (Just guessing)

@mrsic,

1. It's always a good idea to not strip the Source column and show it when taking a screenshot of this tab. Doing it this way can make us sure the data is coming from WD.

2. Data Manager > Historical Providers > right click on WealthData, choose "Clear..." and retry update.

I have three options on right click on WealthData:
1. Perform Bulk Data Update
2. Delete local files
3. Clear Internal Request Tracking Info.

I did make the third step, but still the same.

This is the Source column Eugene was referring to. Also, I'd expect to see some Message like the ones circled indicating how many bars were added, just updated this WealthData DataSet now and see these messages.

But, the probable reason why those symbols (BUD, etc) are not updating is because they are not WealthData symbols.

WealthData covers roughly the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 symbol set with a few additions.

Thanks. Okay. I got it.

WealthDate: Could not obtain historical data for symbol: BUD.20081117.A

Why if I am updating the S&P 500 I am get 1.015 Symbols instead of 500? Do I have manually sort and delete old symbols?

It’s because our DataSets are special. They contain ALL of the historical components that went into and out of the index over time. And when you use them in a backtest WL8 automatically handles only using the symbols that were in the DataSet at each date.

This avoids the pitfall of survivorship bias.

So no you needs do anything, it’s all handled for you automatically.

But you should use the WelathData DataSet provided in the WealthData folder to get this benefit. Just copying the symbols into your own DataSet like you did above won’t eliminate survivorship bias.

@Glitch, that means I can't take a small portfolio to optimize without risky survivorship bias? Testing with more symbols take longer.

The choices are the Wealth-Data DataSets:
Dow 30
Nasdaq 100
S&P 100
S&P 500

And the German DAX, MDAX
