Tried to use Strategy Evolver to create a short strategy. In preferences I removed the checkmarks from the items BUY and SELL. But I still get only buy strategies.
Rename
The Evolver has a 5 pre-configured (all long) strategies, so presumably these do better with the set of data you're testing with.
1. Check the 1st generation strategies (at the bottom) for short signals.
2. Using data from 2007 to 2009 or even just this year may turn up some short strategies that work in this environment.
