I am mostly interested in Wealth Lab for automating strategies. Can I test the interface during the trial or do I have to purchase a license ?

The Alpaca extension is a good solution because it provides a full blown paper trading account. WL7 extensions also have a built in 14 day free trial period when you install them.

The 14 day trial for the extensions sounds good, but when I go to the page to purchase, it does not mention the trial. How can I verify there is a trial period ?

You'll have to trust me! Just download and install the extension, I won't let you down!

We do specify it here too.

Looks great so far. Is there a forward testing mode, or do I have to open the Alpaca account and paper trade there ?

If you want a full fledged simulated trading experience open a paper trading account with Alpaca. WL7 does have its own Dummy Broker but it’s execution only, doesn’t maintain balances or history.

I tried to open an Alpaca account yesterday. After entering all the information, instructions say to press the "submit" button. There is no "submit" button, and the "open account" button is greyed out. I emailed and posted a customer support incident, but no response.

Keep us posted, it's been a few months since I did it, but I was able to smoothly create the account.
