Fidelity has released their newly available API. I contacted Fidelity about Wealthlab and the reply was that Wealthlab would have to request usage of the API in order to use them. Does Wealthlab have a plan to re-connect in any way with Fidelity so Fidelity customers can use Wealthlab once again?

This is the first we’ve heard about the API so no we currently don’t have such plans. Do you have a link that describes the API?

Are you sure this is not Plaid or RapidAPI kind of thing?

I spoke with Fidelity (4/20/2023) about using their FIX endpoint, which they have had running for some time, but they told me this was only available to institutional clients. I did mention WealthLab in the conversation, but this didn't seem to make a difference.

However, I told Laurel Howard (She's the team leader for Fidelity Active Trader VIP team in Dallas.) that if Fidelity's institutional guys allow their FIX endpoint to be accessible to individual Fidelity customers (like myself), to give me a call. She hasn't called back yet....

The people you really want to talk to are the Fidelity institutional support group. Who did you talk to and what Fidelity group are they with?

On the WeathLab side, I would get the FIX plugin going first. You can do that now. Once Fidelity opens that FIX endpoint up to non-institutional clients, then you can connect with that.

I used the fidelity chat and asked the question. The news article I read told how Fidelity choose to make the API available because of losing customers due to their lack of having such an API available.
I stupidly did not get where the news article was from on the web, nor did I write down the name given on the chat line as I became excited of the news..

I am one of those customers that will close my Fidelity account, and buy Wealthlab this year moving to Interactive Brokers or the best broker that Wealthlab recommends.

It seems to me that if Wealthlab talks to the right person, getting the API should be a done deal. The old guard at Fidelity will never admit that they made a mistake dropping Wealthlab.

You need to collect actionable information. I suggest you get back on chat and ask the API question again for more clarification and post a URL that documents these API calls. But my own research (Reply# 3) found there's an API available, but only for institutional clients, not individuals.

There are several sides to this issue. Fidelity's side "might" be it doesn't want to support "high frequency" traders on their platform, which an API would encourage. (Of course, they won't come out and say that.) Was this news article posted on a Fidelity website or somewhere else?

I personally "think" Fidelity is geared towards the more conservative trader and investor, and not so much to the day trader. That's why they provide all the research tools that most brokers don't have. But I could be wrong.
