Installing Wealth Lab 8 build 67 on my Windows 11 Pro laptop.
Logged in/subscribed.

Extensions not being installed. Initial error was something about the "Updates" folder not found. I created it manually.

Then installing extensions downloaded the extension and closed Wealth Lab. Extension not installed and Wealth Lab did not restart. Restarted PC and Wealth lab and tried again. No effect. Extension not installed.

Please double check the installation folder of both WL and the extensions.
Usually this is
CODE:
C:\Program Files\Quantacula, LLC

if you changed this folder make sure you change to the same folder when installing extensions.

Also: Are there any strange permissions set? (see right click on folder->Properties->Security)

Check "Quantacula, LLC" folder and "WealthLab 8" folder.

Also is this a "regular" drive or something mounted/network/remote?

What happens if you try as a user with admin powers?

Like DrKoch hints at, apparently the program files folder is relocated (to a network drive) or the user rights are severely limited.

Installing on the C drive of a regular laptop.
Installation and permissions are the same on my desktop (working) as the laptop (extensions not installing). Nonetheless I opened up the permissions on the laptop to FULL CONTROL for all relevant directories to no avail.

Installation directory is c:\Program Files\Quantacula, LLC
Executable in c:\Program Files\Quantacula, LLC\WealthLab 8

This is the directory where the extensions would be installed and I had to manually add the "Updates" folder.
c:\Users\[my name]\AppData\Roaming\Wealthlab 8

So all installation files and directories are default. The permissions are now wide open, and I have installed and uninstalled a few times to no avail. I still think this could be a permissions issue. Is there a log kept somewhere of extension installation errors?

The biggest clue so far is the error "Updates folder not found" which went away when I created it.

I also did everything with admin powers. Run as admin etc.

SOLVED.
Set File->Data file location back to default.
So this was the non-standard installation directory that really mattered.
All extensions installing now.

This is strange.

QUOTE:
File->Data file location

@WL-Team: Why would this setting change the installation of extensions?

Looks like a #BugReport to me...

Because WL8 updates are downloaded to the user data folder, which is by design.

OK.

This means in this case an error message is missing if there is something very wrong with the user data folder....

We'll handle updates in a customized data folder starting from B68.

Turns out i also called this installation issue SOLVED too early.
.Net was not installed correctly. The installation was standard bar for a custom data folder. I set the custom data folder to my D: drive.

I noticed in the logs there there were some unusual errors and found the assembly references dialog box in the tools menu.

This is what a normal assembly reference looks like:

This is what the corrupted installation looked like:

I didn't really know this installation had gone this bad until I saw the errors above. I thought I had fixed it by changing the data directory back to the default.

So I will do a re-install of .Net and Wealth-lab on my laptop. Hopefully the licensing system can handle that.
Meanwhile I will continue to troubleshoot my ASX (AU) IB streaming issue on my desktop which is functioning within normal parameters.

Reinstallation of Wealth-lab 8 on my Windows 11 Pro machine went well and without error this time. Standard installation.

Uninstalled wealth lab and .Net 6.04 and restarted windows at every uninstall/install.

I did notice that the extensions did not get uninstalled. I suppose this is because these executables are in the data folder. A clean install of everything would require some surgery on that directory.

The Assembly reference looks normal now. No .Net errors.

Even though I uninstalled .Net 6.04, I did not notice it being installed this time. I recall this being a separate install the first time around. Could be wrong.
