The EarningsDate.GetNextUseCache() call is struggling to scrape the next earning date from the free earnings provider Zacks. Since the Upcoming Earnings indicator is dependent on this method, it's returning bad results too.

My question: Is everyone else seeing problems with the EarningsDate function for the Zacks provider, or is this unique to my machine? Perhaps my earnings cache is corrupted and simply needs to be deleted and recreated.

If you're hitting Zacks, you'll be far better served using the Event Provider:
CODE:
List<EventDataPoint> events = bars.GetEventDataPoints("Earnings");

Those old `EarningsDate` methods were a poor man's solution back in the WL4 or WL6 days. It scrapes various websites, which is sometimes nearly impossible now.

Besides Zacks, EODHD is a solid provider for future and historical Earnings - check it out.

All this is to say, if these web scrapes are broken, my preference is deprecate the methods since far better providers are available now.

The WL8 event provider calls the EarningsDate.GetNextUseCache method for Zacks data. It's that method that scrapes the Zacks website for the earnings data. So are you saying the Zacks earnings feature is permanently broken? Can you fixed it?

I agree, but EODHD is not free. I don't want to pay $60/month just to get the next earnings date. What else is available for free? Can the Zacks scraping method be fixed? Can you confirm that Zacks is broken?

So we can't use Zacks anymore for free earnings dates?

We have a Zacks Provider in Data Extensions.
Why wouldn't you use that? Code above ^^^

Furthermore, we have a NextEarnings indicator that counts the days to the next earnings.

... although future earnings don't seem to be available for Zacks. We can look to see if we can do something about that, if it's even available there.

Show me the code for grabbing the next (upcoming) earnings date. That's what I'm after from Zacks. I'm not looking for past earnings.

The free version of Zacks never returned an "estimated" (future) earnings value. I would have to pay for a "real" event provider for that, although I would love to compute a leading PEG ratio if I could get that estimated earnings value for free.

But Zacks did return a next earning date for the future, and that's what I'm missing--and wanting. Can you still get that somehow? (It use to work well. I think it's failing to pick the EarningsDate.GetNext... up now. That's the problem.)

I'm sorry if I confused you, which I think I did. And thanks for looking into this.

I’m afk but isn’t there a future earnings date Event Provider? I recall it’s kind of its own provider.

Yes there is, and Post #4 is running it. But it's not returning the future earnings date event like it use to. That's the point of Post #4. The event provider stops at the most recent earnings date without giving the upcoming earnings date "bar count down".

It relies on the EarningDate.GetNextUseCache() call to scrape the future date from Zacks, but from Post #4, it looks like that's no longer working. That's the problem. I'm sorry if I confused people, but we want the future earnings date, not the estimated (future) earnings, which the Zacks free scraping provider never reported.

Something must have change on the Zacks side for scraping the upcoming earnings date. Can you fix that?

Post #4 is showing the NextEarnings indicator. It works by looking for "Earnings Event" providers, like Zacks for data. Here's the source of that data - it simply grabs all data from [checked] Event Providers that derive from EventEarnings.

CODE:
List<EventDataPoint> earnings = source.GetEventDataPoints<EventEarnings>();

This is the Next Earnings Date Event Provider:

It turns out that it uses the archaic EarningsDate method, which as we now know no longer works. We'll have to investigate if there's another free and reliable source where we can get announced earnings.

The real solution for anyone seriously relying (trading) on this information is to use a real Earnings provider that has both historical and future dates. I recommend EODHD.

Here's an example of the response when querying EODHD earnings calendar for a group of symbols between 10/1/2026 and the end of the year. It's precise, fast and accurate.
CODE:
{ "type": "Earnings", "description": "Historical and upcoming Earnings", "symbols": "TSLA.US,AAPL.US,INTC.US,MSFT.US", "earnings": [ { "code": "INTC.US", "report_date": "2026-10-29", "date": "2026-09-30", "before_after_market": "AfterMarket", "currency": null, "actual": null, "estimate": 0.27, "difference": 0, "percent": null }, { "code": "AAPL.US", "report_date": "2026-11-02", "date": "2026-09-30", "before_after_market": "AfterMarket", "currency": null, "actual": null, "estimate": 1.99, "difference": 0, "percent": null }, { "code": "TSLA.US", "report_date": "2026-10-21", "date": "2026-09-30", "before_after_market": "AfterMarket", "currency": null, "actual": null, "estimate": 0.21, "difference": 0, "percent": null }, { "code": "MSFT.US", "report_date": "2026-10-28", "date": "2026-09-30", "before_after_market": "AfterMarket", "currency": null, "actual": null, "estimate": 4.71, "difference": 0, "percent": null } ] }

Anyway, I've got something that works in place for the next WL9 update.

This is the result of the NextEarnings indicator with the Zacks Event Provider, preferably with the Next Earnings Date provider, selected (but not required).

EarningsDate.GetNextUseCache() will work, but since the indicator calls that method anyway, it would be better to adjust your code to use the indicator.

That's great news, and I appreciate all your time getting it to work again. Now if you can get it to work with WL8, I could begin to use it.

I'm still waiting for updated extensions for WL9 from finantic. I hope they will be released soon. Any word on that?

I appreciate using EODHD would be ideal, but I don't want to pay $60/month for one number. I'm a trader, not an investor. If there's an alternative cheaper option I should look at to get the upcoming next earnings date, please suggest it.
