I would like to look through the trades on the chart conveniently. First of all I’m talking about Backtest Results.

What we have:
I can use Positions tab and double click for getting to the appropriate trade on the chart. Then back to the trades list and to the next trade on the chart.
Or
I can select the chart and get to the next trade by scrolling the chart and then the next trade and so on.

What I would like (maybe I can do this already, but just don’t know how):
There are two windows – one with trades list, another one with the chart. These windows are linked. I use arrow keys to jump to the next trade on the chart. So I can for example filter this trade list by ticker and sort by profit and look through all the trades one by one seamlessly one by one just with arrow key.

Reminded me that in WL6 we had the Portfolio Inspector, another way to accomplish this:

I don't think Portfolio Inspector is what Replikant is going after here - he want to link between the trades list and the chart, not the equity curve.

Actually, the simplest implementation is close to what I saw with patterns (I don't remember where I saw it, at least I hope it was WL7). Right and Left arrow keys above the chart and you jump to next and previous trade.

The more advanced is close to what I describe in the initial post.

I think you're describing some images that I posted months ago with some mocked-up controls to step through Signals in the chart view.

The idea could be applied to the Trades list too, but imho, that list is typically quite large in a backtest, so a stepping utility wouldn't be useful - unless the number of trades in the list were, say, under 100.

Images... why am I sure I pushed those buttons...)

If signals are too dense on the chart, you don't need this feature actually as you'll probably see the next and the previous signal withing one screen (still it may be helpfull to jump to it to make it centered), but if the signals are rare and candle number is big, e.g. 5 minute TF and 5 years of data it's very inconvenient to get to the next trade.

Let's integrate the VCR-style selector control into the Strategy Window Chart tab then.

I have to pat myself on the back, this came together rather well for Build 36!

There was some discussion in another thread about the de(merits) of crowdsourcing the feature requests. Although I agree that there must be some filtering done by the WL team, who knows the big picture and to where the product is aiming; this is an example of its advantages too: a good idea was proposed, it got some positive feedback almost immediately; and now, in less than 24h, there is a nice solution!

I don't like to give critical comments instead of just saying thanks or wow or something). But I can't help leaving this comment).

1. I couldn't find how to turn it back on after I got it hidden).

2. The circle... I don't like it)). First, the position you are focused on is something you are looking at, I don't like the idea of something hiding details. You may want to see how the pattern look like, the previous candle and the next - but the circle...
Second, actually getting new position centered is all you need. If there is only one position on the screen - you don't need this circle too much). If there are many, you are not looking for exact position, right? If not searching position by position number (that looks like something strange for me).

Maybe you could make this circle fade away after it played its pointing role. I mean if you like circles too much) and you don't want do delete this feature.

The rest of the feature is feeled as expected and is going to be a handy feature for me and others.

I think just reducing the opacity of the circle should help. And, you bring it back via a right click on the chart.

Maybe. But maybe you could also add hiding this circle when Position Navigator is hidden so that a user could hide the circle if he want the chart to be cristal clear. And btw, did you noticed that it's not always a circle - the proportions may change dramatically if the chart is stretched vertically for example (because of new long tail candle or something).

So many problems with these circles... Have I already suggested to delete them from this feature?).

Sorry but I happen to like having the circles. I will try to improve them for you however.
