I trade futures and use CSI Unfair Advantage (ASCII). When I set up the gearing ($$/Point) for each symbol in the Symbol Info Manager, the program won't restart.

I called Tech Support through Fidelity. They identified that the problem was coming from the Data file, so we renamed it "old" and reinstalled. This allowed it to start up, but each time we put info int he Symbol Info Manager, the program won't restart.

Here is the problem file SymbolInfo.xml

Anyone know how to correct this?

Are you editing the setting using the Symbol Info Manager or performing manual edits (a no-no unless you're really familiar with the XML DOM).

Aside: please be aware that there is a bug in 6.2 that may change the SIM decimal settings for a symbol under test to the default Pricing Decimal Places in the Advanced Options group. It's extremely annoying when testing futures, so if you run into this really the only solution currently is to drop back to 6.1.

Thanks Cone. I thought I was manual editing. I bring up the Symbols Info Manager in the program and click the "+" sign to add a symbol, then fill in the appropriate data. The tests run fine when I've done this - the only problem is that when I shutdown the program, it won't restart.

Can you send me a link that will allow me to get back to 6.1 ? I think / hope this will fix it.

Maybe the problem is the data that you're entering. In 6.2, the "Symbol" is a Regex expression. Even if you don't know Regex, generally just entering the symbol is fine, but if the symboll contains special characters, then you have to adapt. More info in the User Guide: Open the Symbol Info Manager and hit F1.

Here's the procedure to reinstall 6.1 via the MSI cached file.
1. Uninstall 6.2 via Add/Remove Programes
2. Double click the 6.1 MSI cached installation. You can find it...

in XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\[user who installed]\Local Settings\ApplicationData\Downloaded Installations

in Vista/7
C:\Users\[user who installed]\AppData\Local\Downloaded Installations\

then, for the 32-bit intallation:
\{AB88AABE-57F0-4FEC-A6D0-D31A2D8D75C9}\Wealth-Lab Pro 6.1.msi

for the 64-bit intallation:
\{A8490A7A-9D47-41E0-A0D6-F7827208EAA9}\Wealth-Lab Pro 6.1 (64-bit).msi

Thank you. I was able to install 6.1 - it works fine - and Eugene suggested an Extension to edit ASCII symbols - which also works well. Thank you both.
