I have been using MS-Access database to store some data from wealth-lab 32-bit version. Today I installed 64 bit wealth-lab pro.

Is there way I can access this 2007 MS-Access database (32-bit) from 64-bit wealth-lab strategy?

Thanks

Soon, we'll release our own Database provider extension that connects to any database supported by .NET: MS Access (or any other ODBC/OleDb source), SQL Server, SQLite, you name it. Initial release will have limited support for custom data series (if any) though.

On a related note, connecting to Access or Excel 2007 on 64-bit Windows requires installing Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable.

Eugene,

I tried to download. There is an option for 64 or 32 bit version. It seems even though I have a 64 bit OS, my version of MS Excel is 32 bit. Ultimately, I would like to access Excel on the 64 bit version of WLPro. Should I download the 32 bit version of the "Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable" and would this make Excel data provider serviceable for my 64 bit application of WL?

On a somewhat related side note, do you know by chance if running 64 bit Excel would be advantageous performance wise? I should think so.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

1 - x64 I believe - the key here is operating system's 64-bitness, not Excel's.
2 - For several years, I prefer OpenOffice.org so really no idea on 64-bit Excel (didn't know if it exist until you said so).

While downloading I'm getting a " You cannot install the 64 bit version of Microsoft Database Engine 2010 because you have 32 bit Office products installed...." message. So it seems that I need the 64 bit Office components to install this. I'll try the 32 bit version and tell you how it works.

There was the same question for me.
And the only way for me to get it running was WL 64bit with MS Access 2010 64bit.
I use this configuration since month and it is very stable.
But I saw no (performance) advantages between 32bit and 64bit MS Office 2010 versions

Frank is correct, from a programming/automation (calling Access or Excel from WL) you need to keep the "bitness" the same. 32 bit can only call 32 bit and 64 bit can only call 64 bit. Just wait 10-20 years for everything to be rewritten in 64 bit just in time for the switch to 128 bit :P

With the recently released Database static/streaming provider, connecting to database have become effortless.
