In WLP 4 we have an option to select which #OptVar we would like to optimize ie if you have 4 OptVar's and would like to only optimize two of them. In WLP 5 I don't see a Parameter check box. Is there some way to select which Parameters you would like to optimize?

Thanks...Ed

Yes, it's possible. In the Wealth-Lab User Guide, see Strategy Window > Optimization > Optimization Control > Remove Selected Parameter.

It's definitely not as good as the checkbox, so please call your Fidelity Rep and ask for this feature!

I call Fidelity and turned in the request to add the checkbox in Wealth-Lab 5.

I have another problem with optimization.

With a 2 parameter strategy like Bandwagon Trade I would like optimize one parameter at a time.

When I remove a parameter then do an optimization run on the remaining parameter(s), then select my defaults from that run, go back to Optimization Control and Rollback my Removed Parameter, I lose the defaults I just selected from the optimization run. I have selected every button and every option available, so there must be something I have over looked.

Thanks again....Ed

Removing parameters in order to keep them from being optimized is not a feature, but a workaround for not having the checkbox. If you need to do an iterative process, don't remove the parameter. Instead, adjust its range for the 3 or 4 runs that you want to do.

Hello,

Start by taking a look at Strategy Window > Optimization in the Wealth-Lab User Guide.

(P.S. Although I guess that the pointer above is sufficient, here's something just to be on the safe side: Can't optimize a Strategy. What am I missing?)
