It is cumbersome to go into all kinds of folders in Windows to get to the strategy names to change them. Please give us an option to change them by right clicking on the strategy names, and selecting "rename" or something like that.

Doesn't File > Save As do the job? It's almost a rename; you only have to delete the original strategy after that.

Just ran across this post. I would like to add to the request for a Rename function.

Yes it does the job, but how many more clicks does it take, compared to "Rename"? Each click is a step away from almost a rename.

You cannot delete from the same window, the lets you select SavAs, and vice versa.
To delete a strategy you must open the strategy select window (click 1) to select the strategy and delete it (click 2) (if you're lucky, the strategy is already selected). If not it can take you four clicks to delete the strategy after you close the SaveAs window ((click 2) the folder where the strategy is located, (click 3) the strategy to select it, (click 4) the delete button.

New or disorganized users like myself, don't know immediately what to name something, and have frequent need to change what turned out to be a poor first choice.

As a side note: Deleting a Strategy should in fact take even more clicks than it has been.

For some (good) reason, Strategies are deleted permanently - avoiding the Recycle Bin. Restoring an accidentally removed strategy depends on selected file undelete utility.

I don't get it. What or whom is this protecting?

The following is not almost a rename
It seems everything I do in Wealth-Lab requires workarounds.
Renaming requires a strange combination of actions:
1. open a "save as" dialog
2. select a folder by name
3. type a new name blind, as one cannot see a list of files in the selected folder (unless one maintains a hard-copy file list, and updates it religiously)
4. click OK
5. open a "Open Strategy" dialog
6. Search for the location of the subject strategy (will not be default unless it was the last one opened)
7. Select the strategy,
8. Delete the strategy.

Yet another workaround, what should be a simple function, rename. Alternatively, the "Save AS" dialog should have features similar to "Open Strategy".

If WL had a half-way decent file dialog for Saving files, including folder traversing, and the option to delete files, then Save As might indeed be almost like rename. But the save as dialog is as crude as you can get. It does not even optionally allow traversing the selected folder.
What if the new filename already exists? OK, WL gives an error message. What if the second filename already exists?...

If you don't want to add a rename feature, how about moving the Save AS option to the Open Strategy dialog box. Perhaps via a right-click menu?

Once a strategy has been opened:

Would it be unreasonable to ask for the location of a strategy to be displayed in the main window, in front of the strategy name?

After windows management, this area (filemanagement) is most in need of improvement.

Thanks.

Yes, a standard Windows gui would be nice.

Not just in the files management area, but windows sizing, positioning and last state have been issues in the 3 years I've used WL.
