The WL6.0 has a built-in market sentiment dataset. When I try to update the data with Data manager, I get 0 number of bars. I have been able to down data for other dataset.

Thanks,

Fidelity Market Sentiment symbols are updating fine. There are limitations for data during the trial period, and this may be one of them. On the other hand, if you're a Fidelity customer and have authenticated your installation of Wealth-Lab Pro, then call Fidelity or create a support Ticket.

On a related note: shortly, we'll release our own Market Sentiment data provider. Surprisingly, neither Yahoo nor MSN offers any historical data for advancing, declining etc. issues so Developer users lack these series. We're going to fill the gap and release this new Extension over the weekend.

Will the new new Market Sentiment data provider be also available to WLPro users?

On a related note, I am a missing significant amounts of Volume data for the following symbols from Fidelity's Market Sentiment folder: .MB_ADV.Q, .MB_DEC.Q, .MB_TV.Q, .MB_UNC.Q . It's missing about 15 month of recent data.

Are others also missing this data?

We're yet to decide on its availability to WLP users.

Well, I hope it's available to WLP users since I'm missing the data I've mentioned above. In addition, market sentiment data can be unreliable when using only one source. From Unicorn Research web site,

"One thing we can do is choose one source and stick with it. However, doing this has a higher risk of exposure to errors than monitoring several sources. Sometimes negative volumes or other erroneous values are reported in one source but not others.

Another alternative is to average together the sources. A prior incarnation of this web site did this. Averages, however, are skewed by data errors.

For the purposes of this web site, we assume that the median value of advancers, decliners, etc. from all available sources is a fair representation of the actual market data. Unlike averages, medians are insensitive to outliers and errors. Not all sources are available every day, but enough should be available each day to get a good idea of the median values."

Thanks. I hope the release of the new market sentiment data provider will fix the problem. I am a Fidelity customer, if that does not work, I guess I need to call Fidelity. I have also been using Unicorn's data for a few year. It will be more convinent if we can get it directly from WL.

I would just like to add that that the market sentiment data d/l via Fidelity is 1 day late. Meaning, you won't be able to d/l today's data today but tomorrow. So if you have scripts you run at night that use this data, unfortunately you have to wait till tomorrow morning.

Eugene, first of all, thanks for all the hard work you've put in support of improving Wealth-lab.

I have implemented the new Market Sentiment provider but I have some quibbles with the data in WL. The NYSE advance decline volume data for much of 2008 and 2009 has been capped at 2,147,483,647. When I cross checked these capped volumes with Unicorn data, the Unicorn volume shows greater than 2,147,483,647. Why is WL capping the volume data?

I just checked again and the Unicorn data is capped and not WL. Well, I guess, Unicorn data is not all that accurate either.

I was aware that Unicorn was capping the volume until late 2009, just forgot to put that on release notes. Fixed.

They're not really do it intentionally, rather they're obviously using a long integer type, but the data are too large for it. The should switch to use an unsigned integer type or double float for these fields. Another alternative is to rescale the volume by dividing by 1000, for example.

The Market Sentiment provider is depreciated. Effective 02/20/2020, MS123 supports the most frequently used market sentiment data through our Wealth-Data provider - the advancing, declining and unchanged issues for AMEX, NASDAQ and NYSE! Here are the symbols:

$AMEX_ADVN (AMEX Advancing Issues)
$AMEX_DECLN (AMEX Declining Issues)
$AMEX_UNCHN (AMEX Unchanged Issues)
$NASDAQ_ADVN (NASDAQ Advancing Issues)
$NASDAQ_DECLN (NASDAQ Declining Issues)
$NASDAQ_UNCHN (NASDAQ Unchanged Issues)
$NYSE_ADVN (NYSE Advancing Issues)
$NYSE_DECLN (NYSE Declining Issues)
$NYSE_UNCHN (NYSE Unchanged Issues)

You can create a W-D DataSet by copying/pasting the symbols or by choosing them from "MS" Classification Group in the New DataSet Wizard > Wealth-Data.
