Hello all,

I'm just getting started at algorithmic trading and wanted to introduce myself as I'm sure I'll have more questions soon. I'm looking into paying a developer to write my trading rules into some C# algorithm, and just wondering if any of you would like to weigh in with how you got started? Did you do the same thing I'm doing, or did you find your own profitable strategies using the drag/drop strategy builder?

Best regards,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Generally speaking, the Rule Builder is the easiest way to get a basic trading system working w/o any programming. There you can click "Open code in new Strategy Window" to see how things fit together. Use this as a starting place and tweak little by little.

Thanks Eugene. Suppose I find a trading strategy that works well in back-testing and paper trading, and I decide I'm ready to activate it with real money. Does WealthLab Pro allow me to do that? If so I haven't figured out how to do it.

Yes it's possible but that's a different question. You might find more information in the Wealth-Lab User Guide and if assistance is required, feel free to start a new forum thread (here it may be slightly off topic).

It's possible, you can do it via strategy monitor or a Quotes Window.

I think it depends on how custom you want the strategy to be. For a more advanced strategy or a programmer helps - I used Yuri. He was great.
