I have read the cause and all of that, but is there a way to check a dataset in its entirety for what is causing the problem or do I have to go symbol by symbol.
Unfortunately this error causes WL5 to run the strategy monitor incorrectly in the sense that it stops it from showing any alerts in the dataset.

Assuming that the data is up to date, you could run the "Bad History Data Check" Strategy from the Utilities folder on your DataSet to find the problematic symbols.

This sounds like a scripting error in which you perform a math operation on two series that are not synchronized. You need to make sure that your external series are Synch'd before charting them or performing math operations.
It's very common for symbols not to have the same number of bars - missing bars due to zero volume, different start (IPO) or end (bankrupcy) dates, etc.
