I did not get any intraday prices loaded or End of Dayh prices loaded for 1/3/2011. I tried Yahoo, MSN and Fidelity for datasources. Has anyone else been able to load the prices?

Following the directions from colotrader fixes the problem. Thank you.

I edited the Markets.xml file as shown in "Strategy Monitor Scheduling, Streaming Ghost Bar, and Paper Trading" post in Wealth_Lab.NET >> General forum.
Cone described how to edit the file in that post.

You may have to find all instances of Markets.xml file on your computer and edit each one. I found it in two places, and I had to edit both.

After editing all instances of that file, I was able to get updates for the Fidelity provider after close of the market on 1-3-2011.

I updated two markets.xml files: one in programs directory and the documents and settings directory. I still don't see 1/3/2011 data. However, I can see this bar if I reload chart history one symbol at a time, which will take forever for all the symbols I want to see.

I also went to data manager and updated "Fidelity Investment" historical data Provider under "update data", which apparently didn't help, even though there were messages saying the daily data has been successfully updated.

Please help.

I too have not been able to update for 1/3/2011. Usually I can run an initial update at 5 PM ET. I have tried every hour or two, last attempt at 5 AM ET on 1/4, but to no avail. Very odd.

Will try again at 7 AM ET on 1/4.

Good day for such failure as there is obviously not too much dip action.

I also followed the direction and deleted the date from Markets.xml and restarted but its still not updating it. I only found one instance of Markets.xml. Any more help??

You guys must be using Win 7/Vista. When editing and saving the (only right) Markets.xml file under Program Files (sadly, WL ignores Markets.xml under %AppData%), the Windows "VirtualStore" thingy (google it if you like to learn more) places a shadow copy of the edited file here:

c:\Users\user name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Fidelity Investments\Wealth-Lab Pro 6

It's for security. The actual file isn't modified when you save it. So here's my educated guess. When attempting to edit the XML file under Program Files you should start Notepad (or your favorite XML/text editor) with admin privileges explicitly i.e. by right-clicking the text editor's icon and selecting "Run as administrator". Let me know if it helped or not.

It's working now, and I haven't made any change. I wonder it's time-related issue. Hopefully the updating will be working normal from now on.

BTW, I use Windows XP.

Hi Eugene and all. We have a Wealthlab User group here in Boston/Cambridge are that I and two of my colleagues founded over 2 years ago, and we meet every month as well as have our own googlegroup where people posts. Here is something that one of our group members posted yesterday.

Today, my intra-day pricing was not showing up. I called Customer Service and
the guy informed me that there is 1/3/2011 was considered a HOLIDAY by the
system.

He had my edit the

C:\Program Files\Fidelity Investments\Wealth-Lab Pro 6\Data\Markets.xml

file. In that file there is a section <Holidays>, that looks something like
this:

<Holidays>
<dateTime>2004-01-01T00:00:00</dateTime>
<dateTime>2004-01-19T00:00:00</dateTime>
<dateTime>2004-02-16T00:00:00</dateTime>
<dateTime>2004-04-09T00:00:00</dateTime>
<dateTime>2004-05-31T00:00:00</dateTime>
<dateTime>2004-06-11T00:00:00</dateTime>
<dateTime>2004-07-05T00:00:00</dateTime>
<dateTime>2004-09-06T00:00:00</dateTime>
.....

He had me remove the line <dateTime>2011-01-03T00:00:00</dateTime>, exit
and restart WLP and all was good.

Eugene,

Yes I am using win7 which I guess requires a genius to edit a note pad. So I followed what you said and opened a note pad with admin privilidge and copied the correct data to the pad and saved it as Markets.xml which asked me to replace and I did. Restarted wlp and tried to update with no success.

Eugene,

I edited the file under roaming instead of program files. It works now.
Thanks

Hi all.I am using Windows 7. I went to C:\Users\owner\Appdata\Roaming\FidelityInvestments\WealthLabPro\1.0.0.0\Data\Markets.xml, and found the line for 1/3/2011, but probably for some obvious reason to those who knows this issue, I could not delete the line. I guess this file is not for us to edit or something. How could I delete this line. Thanks

Eugene, I tried to delete the line by opening the Notepad like you described above, but I am not having success.Could you please describe step by step how I could do this? thanks.

The procedure described in your own post dated 1/4/2011 6:19 AM should work for everyone. If it doesn't work, clearly you're not following some step correctly.

Anyone editing the shadow copy in the VirtualStore is doing so at their own risk as never did I instruct anybody to do it. Just suggested that opening Notepad with admin privileges might work for some setups.

I followed the steps that I posted except that I modified the path because I have Windows 7. I did, however, found the Data folder in the path that I described in the 6:42 AM post, and went into the Markets.xml file. Then I found the line that described the date, and tried to delete it both by pressing the delete key and then trying to remove one character at a time, but it will not let me delete. I think that the file is not allowing us to edit, and hence my attempt to do something with the Notepad. I failed. Please help.

OK, I highlighted the Markets.xml, then right clicked on it, then chose "open with," then Notepad, and then I deleted the line in the notepad, saved it, exited wlp, logged back in, then checked within the .xml file in my computer, and the line is gone. I think someone earlier said something about needing to be a genius to use W7 Notepad. I would say that you would have to be a Maze Expert.

Now do I have to "update data" or do anything else because I don't want my backtesting to think that yesterday was a holiday.

The file path should not be modified and remains the same for any edition of Win XP, Vista or 7. For WL6 x86 installed in x64 editions of Windows (e.g. for using Metastock data in 64-bit Windows), you append "(x86)" to the path.

That's why the tip on right-clicking the text editor's icon and selecting "Run as administrator".

Google "UAC" to learn about this Windows protection feature and the reason(s) why it starts applications (by default) under regular user accounts. I would say that all it takes to read the manual of the operating system that you use daily, for your own benefit.

Updating won't hurt.

Succeeded in updating 1/3/11 data after opening Notepad by right mouse clicking "as Administrator" and editing Markets.xml files in both Program Files and under User\..... to delete the wrong holiday entry for 1/3/11.

Thanks all.
