I need to set the directory for price data files, fundamental data files & workspaces myself. I don't want to use the default directories. I know I can do that for price files. What I don't understand is that why the fundamental files are not set to that same directory structure? Anyway to do this? TIA

Workspaces - You can already save and load workspaces from any directory by selecting it in the dialog window.

Data - It depends on implementation of the relocation feature in particular data provider. Fundamental data is technically a different (fundamental) provider. Relocation is not possible with fundamental data.

I am using Fidelity as data provider for both price and fundamental data. I like to put the data on a network drive or portable drive so it can be shared between couple of computers. with the workspaces I was hoping that I could set the default directory to whatever directory that I wanted. I am tired changing the directory every time that I want to save a new workspace.

I think you're right. It was an oversight to provide an option to relocate only the FidelityStaticProvider data. It should have been made to point to the ...\Data\ folder instead. You'd have to keep the names of all the Fidelity* subfolders, but at least that would be the solution to relocate the whole ball of wax. I'll pass this on.

Robert, are you suggesting there is a work around for this problem?

Thanks for reporting the problem.

No work around. The implementation needs to be changed, and there's a good chance that it will be changed in 5.4.

Robert, do you know if this problem got resolved in 5.4 or not?

I haven't checked it personally, but it's supposed to be fixed.

Now the WorkSpace is not moved. When I try to open a workscape it point to the default directory not the new one. I thought they were going to fix the problem so that if we point to ...\Data\.. all sub directoies under that in the new loaction become the new defaults.

No, this only applies to price and fundamental data. The idea is that multiple computers on a LAN can share data to save download time. Sharing other user data isn't an acceptable design.

I have put all data on a network directory. I just noticed that my 2nd computer does not see the data sets that included on the network directory. Any suggestion on what to do so all relevant files can be shared between the two computers?

Again, only the price and fundamental data are shared, not DataSets or anything else. If you want to use the same DataSets, you have to recreate them, copy them, or other synchronize them wiht the other computer. DataSets are stored in the Data\DataSets folder.
