Any way to control the volume of the Alert sounds?

I do not see the vol control button that can change the level of sound. Any way to lower it or make it higher manually or pragmatically? Or change to a different sound?

You're not seeing it because it shouldn't be there (in WLP). Windows itself has built-in Volume Mixer to manage sound for each multimedia application.

Change the sounds... Preferences (F12) > Sounds ...
