Hi,

If I get WL7, can I also get a WL6 license and load that or is WL6 completely deprecated or would I need a separate license for that too?

There are several main reasons why I want to get WL6 as a supplement to WL7:

1) After I translate my current strategies, I want to make sure that the backtesting results match up. Since I'd be auto-trading it's really important I make everything work the same as before.

2) I have a ton of strategies that were public from an early WL (about 2010) and before Fidelity kicked us out, was going through chunks of them at a time with the strategy screener. It was nice because the extra 10 years of performance after they were created are a built in out-of-sample test. (And I am aware of survival effects but am ok with them with my screening process). I only got through to letter M or N and have a lot left to go through. I could do that with WL6 and then figure out the translation of anything interesting rather than being forced to copy/translate every one of the strategies first since not a single one would work out-of-the-box.

3) WL6 had a bunch of performance measures/features I got used to. I'd like to be able to see them all with any strategy and if any are missing in WL7 request them or figure out how to program them.

Thank you

1) Click on Software in the menu and you'll find that "you'll be charged when the trial expires and can continue to use Version 6.9 during your Wealth-Lab 7 Subscription period."

Yes, legacy customers can use 6.9 for no extra charge with a WL7 Subscription.

2) Don't see a question here.

3) You can request, we'll take notes. I think Eugene is gearing up for some Perf. Vis. conversions.

I have to correct Robert on #1 but since you haven't transitioned to WLD 6.9 when Fidelity decommissioned WLP, you're not eligible for a WLD 6.9 license. Sorry Marc.

Thank you for clarifying but I am going to ask you to reconsider this position. If I purchase I am buying the functionality of WL7 which is inclusive of and greater than that of WL6. There does not seem to be any downside for WL to allowing the use of 6 for any 7 user.

I am also hopeful you will consider my request in the other thread (offline access) please. I had to ask publicly since there are no support tickets.

Thank you very much for all your hard work, quick responses and consideration.

I finally believe what I have is the equivalent of my WL6 strategy but the results don't even compare. There's something wrong. If I get get WL7 is there any way I can get access to WL6 please? I need to figure out what the problem is if I'm going to go live.

I didn't get WL6 after Fidelity killed it because there was no live trading platform like there is now.

I assume since I deleted all the Fidelity data there's no way to get that back, correct? If not will I be able to pull in the same data in WL6 as in WL7 using the WL data source?

Thanks for considering this.

You're right but there also was a 3rd party solution for getting static and real-time data and live trading with Interactive Brokers.

Correct. WLD6 cannot work with Fidelity data and there is no way to download it back again.

What concerns me personally about giving away WL6 licenses is that such exception would create a risky precedent.

I didn't realize there was an IB solution. When I asked if I could still use Wealthlab to auto-trade I was told no but that may have been a Fidelity rep.

In any case I'll make one last appeal (because I'm stubborn).

I understand your concern about individual exceptions. I'm not sure I understand your concern about WL7 users having access to WL6. Most people moved from WL6 to 7 and still have access to 6. But I imagine if you look at the number of people who would actually start with WL7 and go back and use WL6 instead of or concurrent with WL7, it can't be that large. It would be mostly be people like myself who are transitioning strategies. Besides support issues, I'm also not sure what the harm is in having users concurrently work with 6 and 7?

How about a compromise? What about a 6 month license to WL6 with a 1 year WL7 purchase? That would get me to jump to the yearly subscription instead of the monthly while trying it out and may encourage others to do the same.

Thanks
