Hi,

The preferences file has been moved to a different location and I am trying to locate the config file to re locate it back onto my main screen. I am running WL Pro 64 bit. Can you help me find the config file and what I need to do to change the settings?

Thanks,
Mike

The file is called WealthLabConfig.txt and could be found by the following location: Wealth-Lab User Guide > Data > Where Data are Stored. However, it's not meant for manual editing and changing anything. This is unsupported.

What does it mean "has been moved"? If you "relocated" the entire Data folder as suggested in this FAQ, you should know where. Otherwise please clarify.

Hi Eugene,
Thank you for your quick reply.

I'll try to explain my situation a bit better.
When I select preferences, the file hides behind the task bar icon for Wealth Lab. When that happens it freezes any Wealth Lab functions. The preferences page is blank. There is an option to move it, but that option doesn't move it. After I deselect that preferences page Wealth Lab is again functional.

My laptop is connected to two large screen televisions, and also has output to the native laptop screen.I remember that in the past when I has an item that wasn't displaying, I could go to the config file and erase the location and that would allow the item to be displayed normally. Are you suggesting that the current config file for Wealth Lab won't allow such modifications?

Can you understand what I am writing about? I would greatly appreciate if you can help me resolve this issue. Thanks very much.

Thanks Mike, now this is clear as day. "The preferences file has been moved to a different location" and "locate the config file" were very misleading. The proper wording should be "The Preferences dialog does not appear on the screen". Here's a solution to your well-known problem that affects multi-monitor configuration users (usually those who have disconnected a display):

Wealth-Lab Wiki > Errors | Other > Wealth-Lab or one of its windows is not displayed

Specifically, the Preferences dialog goes by the PreferencesForm handle.
