Wealth-Lab Version 5 (.NET) 5.0

I drew a tradable trendline alert on a chart window (no strategy attached and no strategy monitor running). The price triggered the alert but had no audible alarm. Finally, I did notice a tab named Alert was created with a potential transaction to place to the orders queue.

Is this normal that no audible alarm would sound? When does the Alert actually fire? During the ghost bar when price was exceeded as the rule was written? After the ghost bar is completed? Thanks for clarifying.

Make sure that "Alert triggered from Strategy Window" is activated in the Preferences dialog (Sounds section).

Alerts triggered boxes are checked but there is no option for just a chart window. Guess you are expected to use a strategy window for Alerts which is reasonable.

No, the same checkbox should activate sounds and for charts too. At least in 5.1 they do.

Checked in 5.0 and it worked too. Verify that the alert wave file exists in the corresponding field and is available. Next, verify that you haven't accidentally turned the sound off. ;)

Eugene,

I just ran another test where I did a 10 cent bracket around a 15 minute chart of AA. The alert was not triggered even though the ghost bar exceeded the price I set. I did not see the ALERT tab, either. The sound is set annoying loud and beeps between bars.

I have all boxes checked in Preference..Sound dialog box.

I am doing another test; puzzled as I was hoping to see real-time alerts.

Perhaps it is only the CLOSE of the bar at the timeframe that has to exceed/below the alert level for the alert to trigger. I did get an alert by that occurring. Is that the key distinguisher?

That's true. It's stated in the trendline's properties - where you also can reconfigure it to generate an alert when price crosses above or below the TT. Right-click on the trendline to bring up the dialog box.

The ghost bar is not a factor. It's the Close that counts, and, tradeable trendlines work ONLY for the Close series.
