Is there a method for using social media (other than Google Trends)with WLP for trading? Are there data sources available that you know of or can recommend for this purpose?

That "method" would be just icing on the cake. Calling some API (e.g. Twitter's) is not rocket science. The real $64,000 question here is: what's your exact plan of using Twitter or other social media in WLP for trading.

The invisible part of the iceberg is having a know-how, laying out tech specs, financing the project. By quantifying their search volume into a rational, objective rank, Google Trends does this job for the trader.

Since the only Twitter-based hedge fund (Derwent Capital Markets) was shut down, stepping off the beaten track could have been far from being a bed of roses for them.

Thank you Eugene. Not entirely sure how I might work this out, and more than likely I think my time is better spent not going down this road for now. I am quite interested in Google Trends, but unfortunately the data come in weekly format, unless you know otherwise.

Historically, Google Trends are ranked by Google on a weekly basis.

Warning: a captcha at Cloudflare may prevent from accessing the StockTwits API (depends on country). It appears as if the C.Components no longer works. If you're affected, use a VPN.
