Hi

I have been using the Quote Media extension to get EOD option data into wealth-lab for several months with good success. In the past 2-3 weeks the data that I have been able to download is 2 days behind instead of yesterday's EOD data. I made no change in my code and I am using WL 6.4 and the QuoteMedia static provider 2012.05

Does anyone have any idea why the change?
Is there some setting that I could have changed or something I could be doing wrong?

Please consider asking QuoteMedia - not us. I guess this is the price to pay for the data feed being provided by the vendor for free (as in beer).

Note that their downloaded stock data also may have various errors (Close > High etc), so there may exist a remote possibility of adding some (let's say) "watermarks" in the DEMO quotes whereas the paid users are getting the correct data.

I actually asked Quote Media about the problem first. They claimed there was no problem and they had no idea why I could not get the yesterday's EOD data. They did not know anything about Wealth-lab or that it could get data from their systems. I tend to agree this completely about the data source.

I agree with your comment about the watermarking. I found some trades triggered when the Quote Media EOD was not correct in the morning when I run my scans but after a few days the data was corrected and the trade was not triggered in back-test. Quote Media also does not allow me to download historical data from more than 3 months ago which was causing me trouble when trying to concurrently use technical analysis on the underlying asset such as 200 day moving averages.

Is there a different source of free EOD options data that is more correct/available and can be connected to Wealth-lab cleanly?

Thank you for your consideration

Sorry, none that I'm aware of.

Meanwhile, what's the problematic option symbols? I'm not following any, but the first one from QM I tried in Wealth-Lab 6.4 delivered actual data.

I was using options data on the SPDRs. They are liquid and popular so I figure no problem.
One of the symbols I that gave me incorrect data was XLE and another was SPY. Not all the time but at least once.
When I checked a few days later all the data was corrected.

If you go to the web page and try any symbol it gives good data. I could not find a bad one.

I kind of wonder if Quote Media simply saw someone downloading a large list of option tickers every morning at 7:30am and decided to stop it in case it was being used for a trading system.

If I were to willing to pay Quote Media for accurate and up to date data would the Wealth-Lab extension still work ?

Out of the box, it won't make any difference: a demo API key has been hardcoded into the provider. It would take a modification of the code to make it accept custom keys (if I correctly believe that this is what makes difference to the QM site).
