What does WL 6.5 64 bit need to execute backtesting as quick as possible? Better processor, more RAM? I'm working on a laptop with Windows 7 installed.

Make sure you've followed what this FAQ suggests re: disabling on demand data update:

Strategy runs slow

Since you're a new user, there's a pretty good chance it's still enabled, considerably slowing the application down.

As to your question in general, I would say that backtesting is already pretty fast on modern CPUs with enough RAM but there always are ways for performance degradation like coming up with a suboptimal algorithm (i.e. a Strategy w/ performance bottlenecks) or loading too much data.
