I asked about creating a custom indicator and was pointed to the Community.Indicators on the Wiki as a reference. Can someone now point me to information about:

1. What steps must I accomplish to access the community indicators from the WealthLab5 GUI?

2. Can I create indicators in VisualBasis rather than C#? If so, is there a reference guide, Knowledge Base, or FAC that provides any information?

Thanks,

1. Same as any standard indicator (User Guide).
2. Yes, any .NET language goes. API documentation will be made available later: Wealth-Lab API documentation - call Fidelity today!

1. You can open the Indicators dialog from the Tools menu, Navigation toolbar, or Function toolbar, or by striking Ctrl+F11. User Guide: Reference > Dialogs > Technical Indicators

2. If you're proficient in VB.NET, then sure you can create indicators there. Unfortunately, we don't have any examples for you since we use only C# (there are over 20 .NET languages). Anyway, you can get the C# source from the WL5Wiki.

Eugene, I thought you "went home" :)

:)

Bandit292, two more options for you --

1) Google for "convert c# vb". There are online/offline conversion tools that could simplify the translation from C#.
2) SharpDevelop can convert a project from C# to VB and back easily.

OK ... I must be doing something wrong. I see none of the Community.Indicators, just "TASC Magazine Indicators" & "WealthLab Standard Indicators".

On a different note, when these TASC/Standard indicators are added to and/or updated ... how do I get the updates? Tools / Extension Manager / Indicators does not give me an UPDATE option for the TASC Indicators, and I don't see any listing for WL Standard or Community Indicators there.

VB vs. C#

Thanks for the info. I can read the source code for Community Indicators and can understand what the developer is accomplishing. I also have some reference books for C#, but just thought I might be able to accomplish more in VB, since I am more familiar.

I'll press forward in C# for now, since I think my indicator will be fairly simple.

Thanks again,
jam

Re: Extension updates -- please see the WL User Guide > Extension Manager. Everything is explained there with illustrations.

Also, there's a crash course on installing/updating extensions -- see "Extensions" on this site.

Eugene,

Got em all now. I had to reboot the computer rather than just restart WealthLab to get the installed extensions to show up. Perhaps a hardware problem on my end.

Thanks,
