I would like to take the complete universe of stocks and cut it down to a manageable size by
limiting criteria. For example I will start will all the stocks but then only further test those that sell for $10 or more and trade more than 5 million shares a day. I might want additional criteria such as test only those that have RS > 80.

Is there any way to use Wealth Lab to created such a watch list? I would like to update that list maybe once or twice a year but and then use strategies to determine which of those stocks should be bought or sold short.

Thanks for your help,

Not in the current version, but you could create a Strategy for this screen that would output the symbols to a text file. Since you're planning to run it infrequently, copying and pasting the result symbol list into a new DataSet would work.

Another suggestion would be to create a script that would build a new XML file in the DataSets folder, doing all the work on its own, so all you'd have to do to have is just restart WLP5.3 to make it see the new DataSet. But it will, of course, take the effort to code it.

Thanks Eugene. I took an external solution which was easier for me than creating a strategy or building a new XML file. I went to Finviz.com, filtered according to price and volume their universe of 6749 stocks down to 989. I exported the page to Excel, copied the column containing all the stock symbols and pasted it into a new Data Set on WLP. It was fast and easy.

Will a future version be able to create a "Filtered Watch List"?

Thanks

It impossible to determine all enhancements future versions would bring, but it's not on the radar for this year.

pacerra,

For now, you can use Dave Aronow's WatchList Provider to create them manually:
Is there support for WatchLists in Wealth-Lab 5?
